Before we go on, let’s first understand what file hashes is? File hashes is a technique used to identify the uniqueness of a content which mean if there is any modification to the original file, the hash generate from the modified file will be different from the original. In other words, file hashes is use to check the integrity of file.
There are many algorithm used to calculate file hashes. Some of the popular algorithm are SHA-1, CRC32, MD5, etc.
Now you have got the basic of file hashes, so let’s discuss on how to add hash tab to the Windows file properties.
We will use the tools called HashTab which you can download from the link below.
HashTab run as Windows shell extension which means it will remains light on computer resources and it won’t slow down the operating system.
HashTab can be access via Windows Content Menu, which mean you want you can check the hashes of file by right click on the file and click on “Properties”.
If you want to add more hash algorithm. You can do it by clicking on the setting that is present beneath the hash box and select the appropriate algorithm.

If the hash matches you will get the green mark else if there is no match you will get the red mark.
It is always recommended to check the hash of file that you download from the Internet. But for those site who don’t provide the hashes for their file, nothing we can do about it.
